Nourishing Neighborhoods: Vegan Bakehouse's Branding Pursuit in Detroit

The Vegan Bakehouse approached us to bring the brand to life with a clear strategy and consistent branding. Their mission is to bring the community together through the power of thoughtful food.
Detroit has had a long reputation as one of America’s most dangerous cities. “In reality, living in Detroit isn’t much different than living in any other big city. its neighbours are made up of tight-knit, friendly communities and a sense of camaraderie makes the big city feel like home” Detroit has struggled with food insecurity. It’s an ongoing socio-economic crisis within the community with a lack of physical and/or financial access to safe and nutritious food.
We worked with them to create their branding which included a suite of patterns inspired by the baking process. This subtle splatter texture runs through the entire branding suite as well as the packaging for Vegan Bakehouse. It was inspired by flour splatters during the baking process.
The family-owned and operated Bakehouse ethos revolves around bringing the community together through good food. “Break bread with us, and we promise to push for the return of social currency and community ethos. We’re building a platform that allows us all to advocate for what we believe in” They wanted to be ahead of the curb and use their unique approach to give Detroiters access to quality, delicious and wholesome food...which is a mission that we wanted to get behind!
